Dimensions of Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC isolated charger 360W-400W models
Product Info
Install the Victron Energy Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger in dual battery systems, like vehicles or boats, to charge your deep-cycle battery (service or utility battery) from the start battery (or alternator). It features an engine-running detection mechanism and is compatible with smart alternators. The Orion-Tr smart charger also has a Bluetooth communication feature that allows you to remotely monitor, update, program, and switch the charger on/off.
The adaptive 3-stage (bulk, absorption, float)charging algorithm of the Orion-Tr Smart charger is configurable for lead acid and lithium batteries. Alternatively, you have the option to select a fixed output voltage.
All Orion-Tr Smart chargers are short-circuit proof and high-temperature protected; the charger’s output current will decrease under high operating temperatures. Install with the screw terminal facing downwards to have IP43 protection.
Available Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Chargers
The Orion-Tr Smart isolated charger is available in 12V or 24V models with a maximum power output of 360W for 12V and 400W for 24V models. Multiple units can be connected in parallel to increase the output power. Use the following table and the downloadable datasheet to select the correct voltage for your application. Note that you can not change the charger’s factory nominal voltages. Victron Energy offers a five-year warranty on all of its power products.

Complete List of Victron’s Isolated DC-DC Smart Chargers
The input and output in isolated chargers and converters have separate ground circuits. Non-isolated devices have a common ground (negative).
Difference Between Isolated and Non-Isolated DC-DC Converter/Chargers
The ground circuit is the main difference between an isolated and non-isolated converter or charger. The input’s ground (negative) circuit in isolated devices is separate from the output’s ground connection (galvanic isolation). Non-isolated DC-DC converters and chargers share a common ground circuit (negative).
When to Use a Converter or Charger with Galvanic Isolation
Choose an isolated DC-DC converter or charger when you have separate ground circuits for your input and output, for example, a fiberglass boat where the ignition and utility batteries are on different parts of the vessel. Consider an isolated DC-DC converter or charger when there is a single (common) ground circuit, such as the vehicle’s chassis. It is acceptable to use an isolated converter or charger with a shared ground circuit; be aware that the galvanic isolation is lost by making the connections this way.
Difference Between a DC-DC Charger and a DC-DC Converter
A DC-to-DC charger is used to charge batteries from a DC source. A typical application is charging the vehicle’s recreational or utility battery from the starter battery or alternator. Victron DC-DC chargers have configurable charging settings for 12V, 24V, and 48V batteries.
A DC-DC converter is meant to power DC loads such as a 12V fridge, lights, or outdoor equipment. The DC-DC converter will step up (i.e., from 12V to 24V) or step down (i.e., from 48V to 12V) the input or source voltage. It is generally needed when the DC load has a different voltage than the source, for example, a 12V refrigerator in a 24V RV. A DC-to-DC converter has a consistent DC output and is not suitable for charging batteries.
I was looking for Briggs & Stratton Ampliphi batteries & first looked at a dealer in Flagstaff AZ since I have purchased from them previously. They didn't have any in stock. I found Voltaico in Sacramento CA, another Briggs and Stratton dealer. They were out as well but Meredith assured me that they could get them direct shipped to our home in Northern Nevada. She sent me a quote promptly and I called and ordered the batteries. Meredith sent the order to Briggs and Stratton in Oxnard, CA and they were shipped the same day and arrived in Reno the next day. They were delivered today. All in all, an exceptional purchasing experience from Voltaico, thanks to Meredith. She did a fine job. Highly recommended!PS The Briggs and Stratton batteries (Ampliphi) were packed very well and everything came through without incident.

Your experience will be incredible!First, these folks have the best price of anyone online. Second, their staff (Meredith) walked us through options and an alternative unit, making certain what we wanted was actually what we needed. Third, the 6-8 week waiting period was only four weeks. A major positive when the alternative is a generator. Lastly, folks at Voltaico kept us abreast of production, shipping, and never let us down on anything. The units are quite heavy at 129kg (almost 285 lb), and required equipment to move down our ¼mi driveway. Once near house though, the last 15m were an easy slide even for a couple in their 70's.These 2-YS-31P's will be replacing some rather old 2-KS-33P's. Looking forward to another decade plus of reliable and robust storage.Surrette-Rolls rocks!
