Victron 3-Phase Systems Multiplus & Quattro Inverters - VOLTAICO 2025

Victron 3-Phase Systems
Multiplus & Quattro Inverters

For a Victron 3-Phase System: Stack three Multiplus or Quattro inverters to create a Wye configuration, forming a 4-wire system with three live phases and a neutral connection (or 5-wire with the grounding conductor). Each phase of the three Victron inverters produces 120V to neutral, contributing to a balanced and reliable three-phase power supply suitable for different applications. The voltage between phases is 208V, known as the “line voltage” or the “line to line value”, and this configuration is commonly referred to as a 3-Phase 208V Wye.

We need to mention that there is a 3-Phase 480W Wye utilized for three phase industrial motors. Additionally, in an industrial setting, you may come across a 3-Phase 240V Delta arrangement. The Delta configuration lacks a neutral and is consequently known as a 3-Wire (or 4-wire with the grounding conductor). However, it is important to note that neither of these 3-Phase industrial configurations can be achieved with Victron inverter/chargers.

Victron 3-Phase Wye 208V Voltage Configuration

The only attainable voltage configuration with Victron Energy inverter/chargers is the 208V 3-Phase Wye, mentioned earlier, as well as the configuration elaborated upon in the subsequent paragraphs.

When using clusters of multiple Victron Energy inverter/chargers (a cluster is made up of one to six inverters), each cluster will provide a 120V line and a neutral connection to the 3-Phase electrical panel or breaker box. This setup results in a 3-phase 208V power supply, suitable for residential and small commercial applications. With this configuration, the 120V line can effectively power various components such as lights, residential outlets, fractional HP motors, and other common 120VAC appliances.

Not all 240V (or split-phase) loads will run on this system due to voltage compatibility issues. While it is possible to operate some 240V equipment on a 208V circuit, it will result in a decrease in efficiency of 20-30%. Checking the product information for compatibility with 208V is recommended, although this information may not be readily available on the product label.

In a 3 phase 208V 4-wire configuration, the phase voltage is 208V and the voltage to neutral (also known as winding voltage) is 120VAC. These are the measured voltages for the user.

L1 to L2 = 208V

L2 to L3 = 208V

L1 to L3 = 208V
L1 to N = 120V
L2 to N = 120V
L3 to N = 120V
