The Lynx Smart BMS is a specialized Battery Management System part of the modular Lynx Distribution system and designed specifically for Victron Lithium Smart Batteries. Among the various BMS options available for our Smart Lithium battery series, the Lynx Smart stands out as the most comprehensive and feature-rich choice. It comes in two versions: 500A (with M8 busbar connections) and 1000A (with M10 busbar connections).
Key Features:
• Built-in 500A or 1000A contactor serves as a safety backup and can also act as a remote-controlled main system switch.
• Battery monitor displays important data such as state of charge percentage.
• Pre-alarm signal gives a warning before the system shuts down due to issues like a low cell.
• Bluetooth connectivity enables setup and monitoring via our VictronConnect App, featuring Instant Readout for quick access to essential BMS data.
• Both local and remote monitoring are supported using a Victron GX device, such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX.

Built-in Contactor:
The contactor acts as a backup safety measure to protect the battery if primary controls fail. It can also serve as a remote-controllable main system switch.

Pre-charge Circuit:
Prevents high inrush currents when connecting capacitive loads, eliminating the need for external pre-charging.

Monitoring and Control:
Monitor and control the BMS via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect App or a GX device like the Cerbo GX and VRM Portal. It includes a built-in battery monitor for real-time data such as state of charge, voltage, and current. Instant Readout allows for quick diagnostics without a direct connection to the BMS.

Closed-loop Control:
Victron inverter/chargers and solar chargers are automatically controlled via a connected GX device and DVCC. ATC/ATD contacts can control other chargers and loads with a remote on/off port.

Programmable Relay:
The relay can serve as an alarm relay or control an alternator via its external regulator. In Alternator ATC mode, it ensures the alternator is switched off before disconnecting the battery from the system.

AUX Terminal:
Provides power to specific loads (like a GX device) after the BMS shuts down loads in the event of a low cell voltage. It turns off if no charge voltage is detected within 5 minutes.

VE.Can and NMEA 2000 Communication:
Allows easy connection and communication with a GX device using standard RJ45 network cable. It integrates seamlessly into marine networks for data sharing with marine MFDs.

Lynx Distributor Fuse Monitoring:
Monitors up to 4 connected Lynx Distributors and their fuses, providing fuse status readouts and alarms via VictronConnect or a GX device.

About Victron Battery Management System (BMS)

Victron’s advanced Battery Management System (BMS) are engineered specifically for their Lithium Smart Batteries, 12.8V and 25.6V models. The BMS establishes direct communication with the lithium battery through the battery’s M8 circular connector cables, it protects the battery cells against potential hazards such as overvoltage, undervoltage, and extreme temperatures. Through its intuitive “load disconnect” and “charge disconnect” terminals, the BMS proactively regulates power flow, mitigating risks and safeguarding battery longevity. A BMS can monitor up to 20 batteries without compromising on reliability, making it an indispensable component for any Victron lithium battery system.

Important:
Always use a Victron BMS with your Victron lithium battery bank. It is strongly advised against using third-party BMS devices with Victron Battery Smart batteries.
System Compatibility:
• The SmallBMS, VE.Bus BMS V2, and Lynx Smart BMS work with 12V, 24V, or 48V systems. Other BMS models are compatible only with 12V systems.
Connection Requirements:
• The SmallBMS and VE.Bus BMS V2 need all loads and chargers to connect directly to the battery. They’ll turn them off if there’s a voltage or temperature issue.
• The Lynx Smart BMS has a safety switch that disconnects the system from the battery in emergencies. It also acts as an on/off switch.
• The Smart BMS 12/200 has a separate output for connecting both loads and chargers. It will disconnect if there’s an issue.
Alternator Protection:
• Some models have a dedicated input for alternators. It regulates the alternator’s supply and prevents reverse current.
Remote Control:
• All models have a remote on/off terminal. Smart BMS models can be controlled via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app.
Battery Monitoring:
• The Lynx Smart BMS includes a comprehensive built-in battery monitor.
Communication Options:
• The VE.Bus BMS V2 can control inverters or inverter/chargers directly.
• Lynx Smart BMS can communicate with compatible devices via a GX device.
• It can also monitor up to 4 Lynx distributor modules.
Optional Accessories:
• Accessories include cables, adapters, and the VictronConnect app for Smart BMS modules.
System Design Recommendations:
• Choose SmallBMS for systems without inverter/chargers.
• Use VE.Bus BMS V2 for systems with inverter/chargers and a GX device.
• Opt for Lynx Smart BMS for digital integration needs, especially in yachts or recreational vehicles.
