The Tigo Energy RSS (Rapid Shutdown System) Transmitter pairs with the TS4-A-F and TS4-A-2F fire modules to comply with NEC 2014, 2017, and 2020 690.12 rapid shutdown specifications utilizing power-line communication (PLC).
Part number 493-00000-20 is a commercial dual core RSS Transmitter; it comes with a 480/277 VAC DIN rail power supply. The outdoor enclosure is not included with the kit.
When the RSS Transmitter is on, it sends a continuous signal to Tigo’s TS4-A-F and TS4-A-2F fire modules. The TS4-F units keep the solar panels operating while receiving a signal from the RSS Transmitter. The TS4-F units automatically enter rapid shutdown mode when the RSS Transmitter is switched off, and the signal is lost. PV energy production is resumed when power is restored to the RSS Transmitter, and the TS4-F units receive the signal again.
Tigo RSS Transmitter Options
The transmitter can be configured with one or two cores. Each Core supports up to 10 strings with a maximum of 30 solar panels per string. In summary, each RSS Core handles a maximum of 150A and 300 solar panels (Dual Core 300A and 600 PV panels).
Use the RSS Transmitter with Pure Signal Technology when linking multiple RSS Transmitters together. The pure signal enables one coordinated keep-alive signal to the solar array to maximize signal integrity, even in large and complex PV installations.
